Embedded system has a wide prospect in the area of industry control application. With the link to Internet, enterprises may easily embody the management and the manufacturing process together, even transfer readily and economically the plants' information to any corner of the world. The study on embedded system and its linkage to Internet is of importance in technology and economy, and will set up the necessary base for the design of new generation of networked industrial embedded system .The work in research and development of the thesis work is carried out in following aspects. Base on the micro-controller P89C51RD2, a smart temperature control node was designed with the efforts on the adoption of new devices and new technique, the full usage of resources, and the pursuit of outstanding level. A deep study were carried out on the Ethernet interface base on NIP chip RTL8019AS, as well as the design of H/S for the realization of the data communication on Internet. The develop procedure and the technical details was studied especially in the embedding of TCP/IP with limited resource of microcontroller. A Triac heater was designed to form an experimental platform for industrial Ethernet, and the temperature control software run on host PC developed.The thesis is divided into 5 chapters. With positive opinion to the industrial Ethernet, the first chapter is an overview of computer communication and network. The second chapter is the design of a P89C51RD2 based temperature controller node with Ethernet interface. The content of chapter 3 is the Ethernet interface based on the NIP chip RTL8019AS. The fourth chapter describes the embedded software with the focus on the transplantation of TCP/IP in the limited resource of the node. The fifth chapter is the design of a temperature control system composed of the node and the host PC to function as the experimental platform. The thesis ends with a brief conclusion and main software modules as appendix.
