With the maturation of computer technology, especially the development of network technology, the process of power system automation has been greatly promoted. Alone with the improvement of power net, the control center requires the automation system of transformer stations to provide stronger functions and more information. In this way, the control center can take the running situation of transformer stations under control, and increase the controllability. The framework and communication resolvent of substation monitoring system is very important for economize, reliability , Real-time and high-powered character of system..Therefore, the communication networks of substation monitoring systems are facing new challenges, not only in the volume of data, but also in the transfer rate.Ethernet has been widely used because of lower cost,opening character and numerous supporters in hardware and software application. Ethernet ,the annectent of spot bus and monitering server ,will became main method of communication in substation moniring system.According to the features of communications network for substation automation system as well as the experience of large transformer station automation systems in real development projects, this article proposed a new solution with internal Ethernet communications controller based on an embedded operating system. Futher more,an detailed expatiate of hardware and software design is gived.
