The application of database management system is commonly applied to university libraries in our country. In view of the current level of information systems built and applied, it is possible for university libraries to step up to the high level of information system: knowledge management. Knowledge management will provide a series of new management thoughts, mechanism and methodology to improve the management of libraries, to promote its creativity, capability of using and renewing knowledge, and to enhance its service ability, competitive ability and creativity. Knowledge management will make university libraries step from the book service up to the information service, from the consult service up to the knowledge service.This paper focuses on the framework construction of knowledge process and knowledge discovery process in University library from the general knowledge management theories. On the basis of discussing university library knowledge management system, the transferring process of knowledge is described in details. It is showed that this process is a dynamic cycle and recycle one among the library office clerks, outside users and the resources of information and knowledge .Through the process of KDD&K (Knowledge Discovery in Database and Knowledge Base) which combines the original library information system resources with the internet resources to form a derivative dynamic knowledgebase. This will provide multiway for the library office clerks to service their customers in anywhere anytime, multiway of questioning and answering and user self-service by means of knowledge service system. By analysis of each sub-system of knowledge organization and knowledge service processes in library, it is obviously that the library knowledge system should be an integrated system including many functions such as intelligence development, knowledge discovery and knowledge value-added, customer relationship management, knowledge classifying.The knowledge base is an important composite of the knowledge manage system. In order to improve the knowledge organization behavior and its service, and to guarantee the customer service quantity and satisfiability, it is vital for university library to construct a cluster of knowledge bases in various forms. The construction of knowledge automatic service process centered on knowledge base and oriented to users will be the goal of the customer service in university library, also be its development strategy in the future decade. The construction of knowledge management system by means of knowledge base in university library, the construction of knowledge service organization, and the construction of perfect customer service system will realize knowledge congregation, knowledge delivery,knowledge application and knowledge innovation and other social functions effectively. All above will boost the business of library rapidly.KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Data Base) is a kind of key technology in the knowledge management system. KDD can mine the tacit knowledge in bulky explicit information, form professional knowledge base and knowledge warehouse, and turn the tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge. It is very suitable for the university library to satisfy its customer desires of personalized and tacit knowledge, and to be able to match its whole strategy of turning the tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge in its knowledge management system. Although KDD study is still at the initial stag, full of questions in it, we should consider the development of KDD when the knowledge management system is about to be built in university library, or at least consider the basis data standard, interface of redevelopment and etc. So, this is the main reason of studying the university library knowledge process and the KDD process in this paper.KDD mining process is a closed loop where the rulers generated are directly evaluated and qualified , then stored in knowledge base.
