Workflow management is a fast evolving technology,which 15 increasingly being exploited by businesses Its Primary characteristic is the automation of processes involving combinations of human and IT applications.Although its most prevalent use is within the office environment in staff intensive operations such as insurance,banking,legal and general administration,etc,it is also applicable to some classes of industrial and manufacturing applications.Many software vendor have developed their WFM product,and more new WFM product are developed continuously.because of users' requiry as well as market competition ,every vendor only focus on exclusive function of its product.With popularizing of Internet,more connection are built among all kinds of organization.Result in the conflict of different WFM pruoducts adopted by them are more and more serious. Workflow Management Coalition(WfMC) is an union which represent some WFM-related companies and organization.WfMC concentrate on research Workflow technology and making standard.Now almost all vendors and researcher agreed on that all WFM products have some common properties.If enable all main function to comply with common standard.Then different WFM products can be compatible.In that background,the ZTE Co;LTD attach great importance to develop itself's WFM product.For promoting the WFM technology,and realizing a better WfMS platform,this thesis is generated.Its main works involve model analyzing and software requirement.Firstly,the thesis introduce the foundamental conception and important organization——WfMC.Secondly,on the base of analyzing the common properties of WFM products,explain and describe a general WfMS model clearly.In succession ,according to my achievement in studying Workflow and research existing WFM products,I provide a compeleted software requirement of new WFM product.Which include the function,user interface,external interface,related software attribute,etc.The specialty of the requirement lies in:in order that research and develop WfMS,emphasize the cooperating with other WfMS.Reserved some function and interface for universal application.Based on it,we design the process definition interchange(Interface1),and provide the example about define and use.At last,we discussed some applications based on ZXFlow or other WfMS platform.Three typical Workflow application architecture will be introduced.The development of client and application is also introduced.
