In traditional production mode, material handling phase takes large number of cycle time and costs. As the appearance of AGV, this status is efficiently improved. But now, there are a lot of AGV guide types, which all have their merits and disadvantages. Vision-guided AGV with characters of flexibility and cheapness, has outstanding practical value.This paper intends using digital image technology, designing a high speed image gathering system applied to vision-guided AGV. It uses OmniVision's CMOS digital color image sensor OV7620 sampling the object image, TI's TMS320VC5409 DSP as main controller, ICSI's high speed SDRAM IC42S16100 as data buffer, Altera's Flex10K series CPLD designing SDRAM interface and time sequence logic.Further, it uses software simulation and image data redrawn, validated the system's correctness and usability. It is believed that this is a helpful try for AGV and such intelligent robots' vision guide way.
