Recently, with the development of CMOS imaging technology, CMOS image sensor has occupied the market because of its semiconductor art, pixel rate and dynamic domain. Compare with CCD, it has been applied broad because of its characteristic of low-cost, simple digital interface and fast-speed, especially in the domain of space exploration such as cameras for remote sensing images, star trackers. The thesis researches on CMOS image sensor produced by Cypress Corporation and aims to achieve the method of its driving circuit; and it could facilitate the R&D on the CMOS image sensor, which will be of great benefit to designs on the relevant aerospace equipment. This thesis does some research on contents below: Firstly, it presents the history, features and the primary principles of CMOS image sensor. The comparisons between CMOS and CCD are also introduced. Then the structure, principle and performance of LUPA300 are describled. Driving schedules of LUPA300 array CMOS image sensor have been examined. The driving timing was designed for array CMOS sensor. The driving timing is described with VHDL. As hardware design, the separation of the imaging part and the controlling part is applied. The former part is four layers PCB and the latter is two layers. The stable supply voltage is outputted by Low Dropout regulators, which are applied to make this system be characteristic of high integrated quality, reliability and flexibility. Experiments show that the system works stably and has low power dissipation. The images captured by this system have good effects. At last, the thesis indicates the deficiencies in the system and how to improve its performance. This system will be a useful reference for other similar systems in this domain.
