There are great requirement for high performance and low cost video systems in the field of industry, military and aerospace. Compared with CCD, CMOS image sensor (CIS) has the advantage of integration, complex, power, cost and development cycle. So it is very important to obtain kernel technology by researching and developing high performance CMOS imaging system, which has a positive significance to promote meeting demands in correlative field in the future.With the development of computer technology, higher requirements have been set in peripherals interface technology. Because of its own advantages, such as: plug-and-play, transmission reliability, speed and the bus electricity and many other advantages, Universal Serial Bus occupies a more superior status in the computer peripheral interface. At present, standard USB interface has been applied in computers, especially a large number of personal computers and peripheral electronic equipments. Standard USB interface has become one of the necessary interfaces.This thesis presents the history, features and the cardinal principles of CIS. The CMOS image sensor IBIS5-A-1300 of CYPRESS is analyzed and image system is designed based on this image sensor. Then the timing control function is realized on the MAX II CPLD chip EPM570T144C5, and uses the finite state machine to design it's rolling shutter, single slop integration and multiple slop integration synchronous shutter. The image data has been transmitted with high-speed through USB2.0 interface based on CY7C68013 chip. Four layers of PCB and double layers element design are used. Stable supply voltage outputted by Low Dropout regulators are applied to make system be characteristic of high integration, reliability and flexibility. Experiments show that the system works stably and has low power dissipation. The images captured by this system have good e ffects. Furthermore, based on Matlab platform, a visible gray image processing software has been developed. At last, the dissertation makes out summarization, indicates the deficiencies and how to improve its performance. This system will be a useful reference for other similar design in this domain.
