With the widly use of 1553B Bus System in nation defensive industry, the call for a 1553B bus communication network simulation system is getting stronger and stronger. For this purpose, this dissertation represents a 1553B bus communication network experimental platform system, including the system architecture, the design philosophy, and the analysis of the technical problems countered while implementing the system.Because some other existing simulation system, which are similar to the system discussed here, are mainly build upon Windows operation system, they gain low performance in real-time response. While the experimental platform system described in this dissertation, is builded upon VxWorks Real-Time Operating System. It is much more similar to the target real-time system being simulated then other existing simulation system.Before describing the experimental platform system, the dissertation introduces some basal acknowledge, including both hardware and software acknowledges. For the hardware part, the indroduction covers system architecture, node type and operating mode of MIL-STD-1553B standard, and configuration space of PCI Bus standard. For the software part, the article introduces VxWorks RTOS and the integrated developing environment - Tornado. The I/O system and device driver architecture of VxWorks system are described in detail. Also an evaluation report is indroduced in order to make out the real-time specialty of VxWorks RTOS.Besides the basal acknowledge, the dissertation describes design and implementation of the 1553B bus communication network experimental platform system in detail. Firstly, a description of the software architecture and functional module division is represented. Secondly, a layered architecture of the communication system utility function library is introduced. And finally, the implementation of the device driver and library functions are described in detail. Also the technical problems countered while implementing the system are analysised, and resolved steps are listed in detail.
