This paper explores how to design and implement MIL-STD-1553B expander board ,which adopt EDA and FPGA, based on PCI bus ,and implement communication system based on MIL-STD-1553B.Because of the operating environment of aviatic electronic system is very execrable, dependability and anti-jamming become eternal topic. In the initial stages of developing aviatic electronic system, people have to simulate with PC on the ground. So, developing expander board for simulation become important The function of expander board is joint between the data bus of PC and the data bus of aviatic electronic system, and operation aviatic electronic system under the control of PC instruction. PC could simulate aviatic electronic device on the ground. In this thesis, the interface between PC and expander board adopt PCI bus architecture.Firstly, the origin and signification of this thesis is introduced and blue print is ensured.This paper describes several key technologys including PCI bus, MIL-STD-1553B, PLD and development tool. This is the base of development.Secondly, the composition and function of expander board is introduced, the paper describes a detail developing process of selecting component, design interface circuit, protract PCB with Protel and design PCI interface logic and user's logic.with AHDL and MAX+PLUSⅡ.In addition this paper discusses how to debug PCI board, and give the simulation waveform and the result of debug.On the base of all functions is ture, this paper introduce the config registers and memory of BU-61580,realize the interrupt function and communication based on MIL-STD-1553B.Lastly, some disadvantages and improvements of the communication system are summarized.At the present time, the MIL-STD-1553B expander board based on PCI has been in operation for quite a time.The communication system we developed is of great value.
