On the base of researches of VXI bus techniques, the general design scheme of the hardware system for the automatic test stand ATE8000-1 is presented depending on the test requirements of the Flight Management Computer (FMC). The structure of the switching module and the bus signal distribution of the motherboard are described in detail. Then the controlling cards and switching cards are developed. Taking account of the anti-interference and reliability of the switching module and system design, the modern Built In Test (BIT) technique is adopted in the designing of the hardware system. So the consummate functions of Self Test, failure monitoring and failure locating are provided. The practical task of the system Self Test and the operational simulation test are designed and implemented.The reliability modeling of the system testing is given and the model validity is verified according to the experimental data. Then the reliability of the system during early testing and operation is investigated. Finally, the growing trends of the system reliability is presented by the statistical analysis of the failure data among system testing. The analysis and discussion of the results demonstrate the theoretical and practical value of the reliability research.
