JIE XI map-scanning device is used for scanning maps and for surveying land. It is widely used in military, agriculture, electric power, traffic, mine, oil, architecture, environmental protection, and otherland administration departments. The main work of this thesis is to develop the interface of this device. The interface is used to connect the computer with the device and provides a channel for the transmission of data, commands, addresses, etc between the computer and the device. This interface card was designed for a research institute. Their previous interface card was based on an ISA bus and could not meet their demands. In order to increase compatibility, this interface card is based on a PCI bus. In this thesis, the whole interface card is divided into 5 modules. The card was finished after debugging, emulating, and programming in VHDL.The first chapter of the paper is preface. It introduces the origin, purpose and significance of the project.Chapter 2 introduces some knowledge about the JIE XI map-scanning device.Chapter 3 mainly discusses the PCI bus technology.Chapter 4 mainly discusses the FPGA technology and the tools used to design the interface card. The last chapter of the paper demonstrates in detail the course of the implementation.
