With the data exchange during modern industrial control becoming more and more frequent, that different devices on the factory floor have different communication mechanism leads to bad openness, inefficient reusability and poor flexibility of industrial process data acquisition and system control software. The purpose of this dissertation is to find an effective way to unify the standards, and realize the industrial process data acquisition and system control quickly, accurately and easily.Nowadays, fieldbus technology is widely applied in industrial process data acquisition and system control. OPC (OLE for Process Control), which is based on Microsoft's OLE, COM/DCOM technologies, is an industrial technology specification and standard generated to solve the communication problem between industrial client computers and various equipment drivers. By using the industrial fieldbus based on Modbus protocol as the research object, the author presents the data acquisition and system control solution, which adopts module technology, XML and OPC.Based on Microsoft's COM/DCOM, the specification and requirement of data access standard of OPC technology in industrial application are discussed in detail. The global architecture schema and key technologies in realizing the OPC server and client system are also presented. The OPC server and client system based on Modbus protocol are developed successfully and applied in the DNC data acquisition and system control of a gear manufacturing enterprise. In practice, it has been proven that OPC technology is effective in improving the openness, reusability and flexibility of DNC data acquisition and control system.Finally, on the basis of the summarization of the research work in this dissertation, further research and investigation about automation software are discussed.
