This thesis is mainly concerned with problems of applying fieldbus to ship's information monitor and control system design. Also, some researches on interconnection of CAN bus and Ethernet were done.Voyage data recorder (VDR) has a final significant in marine accident investigating. First , the paper summarized the development and present situation of voyage data recorder (VDR) and fieldbus. By comparing present five popular fieldbus and combining with ship's special environment requirements, the article proposed development project of VDR system, also characteristics and protocol of CAN (Control Area Network) fieldbus were expounded. Then , the paper given a detail description of VDR design requirements, project development scheme, hardware design, software realization, application layer protocol design and CAN communication network construction. In application layer protocol design, the paper improved conventional static priority schemes and introduced dynamic priority schemes, and practiced them in VDR project development with good results acquired.Considering the development trend of VDR and fieldbus, some researches on interconnection of CAN fieldbus and Ethernet were done. And works based on 51 serial singlechip are shown, such as hardware principle scheme of CAN Ethernet gateway. Ethernet driver source codes and corresponding TCP/IP protocol transplant functions.At present, the development of voyage data recorder based on CAN fieldbus has completed, and the system was tested with good results acquired.
