Various patterns and drawings make our life interesting and colorful. Pattern-design and manufacturing play an important role in a lot of industries, especially in textile area. While, with the growth of textile industry and the enhancement of market requirements, especially the evolution of network-technology, the area of CAD/CAM develops rapidly. At the same time, network-based patter-design service becomes a trend. The information technology greatly changes our life. With it's development, the business model in textile area also changes slowly. In the course, customers' demand of customizing their individual commodity increases dramatically. At the same time, they even want to examine the real visual effect of their personal commodity before they are produced.Under such background, we propose a Network-based Patter Design Service model (NPDS) for the purpose of solving those problems. NPDS is an entirely new model, which contains such concepts as multi-level pattern design model, design guided business-model and network-based service- providing model. Based on NPDS, we present a network-based pattern design service platform, which aims to provide pattern design services for customers. The thesis mainly discusses the components of our model proposed above. Then we give our design of a Network-based service platform and the key technologies based on the NPDS model. We also describe the pattern-format and the data-exchange interface, which stand an important position in the model. The choice of .net environment from numerous ASP development solutions is discussed as well. In the end, we introduce the functional modules of the platform and their key implementation technologies. The innovation of the thesis rests with that in textile area we propose an open scalable network-based service model, which integrates design, business and service-providing. The model satisfies the industry's new requirement of pattern design and then it serves the industry's every entities with characteristic service. Meanwhile, we also give a pattern-format, which provides designers with more flexible design-pattern and a flexible interface for design information exchanging in network.
