A Virtual Reality System with the method of storages and calculations for the planar model and the NURBS surface model has been designed, which not only rectifies the distortion of model and the abnormity of texture mapping, but also presents a storage pattern of the complex 3D model on Internet with less data streams.The System is accomplished by several persons, Li Xin, Fu Xinbo and me. Under the direction of Professor Qian, previous graduate students have done a lot of basic research and prepare job. The main research of this paper is how to realize Texture Mapping of NURBS surface in the Virtual Reality System. Through the definition of parametric polynomial curve/surface and NURBS surface, the paper explains the theory of showing NURBS surface and its texture mapping. In order to achieve the compatibility between the planar model and the NURBS surface model in render program, the paper give a texture mapping transform method from NURBS surface model to POLYGON model. This method helps the display and texture mapping of the whole scene model. Using the dynamic LOD technique bring large infection for POLYGON model and NURBS surface model. This paper solves the problem with the self-adaptive texture mapping method of NURBS surface.Many problems are resolved with using these methods, such as model distortion and texture map abnormity. It provides the reference and expands the thinking for more advanced and extensive researches.
