Virtual reality has become one of the hot research areas of the computer science. The development of network graphics also helped to make the application of virtual reality more widespread. On the other hand, recent years, Computer Aided Design in textile manufacture also has its common use in the pattern design and the craftwork processing. For these reasons, some kinds of well designed pattern creation systems emerged. However, research on high realistic pattern effect remains out of date. According to this situation, through the research on scene design which is based on image and the research on realistic graphics, we discussed a method which combines the research on Image Based Rendering and the research on pattern effect simulation.For the pattern warp demands in specific scenes, an algorithm which divided the scene surface into warp control meshes according to the scene surface features was presented. Considering the detail changes in the scene surface, a mesh adjusting method was also given out.To adapt the scene surface features, a texture mapping algorithm was putted forward. This algorithm used mesh edges as texture warp control vectors, and the composite vector based on the control vectors could determine the mapping point. This process could meet the demand of reasonable texture warp on the scene surface. Further, when this algorithm was putted in 3D scenes, it also could server as a realistic texture mapping method.For the realistic texture effect when putting the pattern in real scenes, the HSV color model which coincides with the human vision was used. With this color model, realistic texture effect was obtained by the brightness synthesis of corresponding mapping points between the scene image and texture image.To exactly estimate the mapping area, a method by fitting its boundary using cubic parametric spline curves was presented, and at the same time, a boundary polygonization algorithm based on curvature radius was given for the purpose of efficiently calculating the points inside the mapping area.After we carried out the scene design methods, realized pattern texture mapping algorithms, and carefully considered the demand of multi-user and custom free choices in pattern applications, we implemented a visual patterns effect show system which adopted the Web Services concept. Using this system, we verified the algorithms in this thesis. The system is also supported by the project of National 863 Hi-tech R&D Program "Computer Aided Electronical Manufacture Research and Development for the Chinese Textile Area". The practical results proved that the methods in this thesis can create high photo-realistic effect and they are also available for large scale application on Internet.
