The wetland is one of the most important environment resources for human. It is a biology system in nature full of various life forms and with a high productive ability. The wetland is also important for supplying the water resource, meaning the flood, modulating the climate and protecting the variety of life forms. So the wetland is honored as "the kidney of nature". For protecting the wetland besides constructing the legislative system, it is necessary to form the scientific method-constructing the wetland database and using GIS technology to investigate and analyze the wetland resource. This method promotes the efficiency and the accuracy.The main study object in this article is ZhaLong wetland that is a part of SongNen plain wetland.The traditional GIS platform has pitfalls in some aspects such as system integrating, the exploitation complexity and the transplanting ability. It limits the capability of GIS greatly. The components-made GIS system has enormous advantages in seamless integration and the flexibility of the system. It stands for the development trend of GIS. The article concentrates on how to develop GIS with the components technology and apply it to the study and analysis of the wetland.Based on the MapObjects components, the article constructs a component framework of the wetland GIS, uses UML to make a detail analysis and design of the system and provides a static structure figure of the system.The article divides the wetland GIS into two modules: the general GIS and the special GIS analysis modules. In the general GIS module, the article mainly uses MapObjects components to divide specifically the model into five parts such as map loading, space searching, space analysis, remote sensing data analysis and the mutual display of graphic. In the special GIS analysis module, the article mainly analyzes the rainfall, water resource, water quality and biology resource of the wetland. Then the article makes the visual design of them. After the detail system analysis, based on the COM technology, the article develops a prototype system and builds up a basic platform for studying the situation and environment of the ZhaLong wetland. The article provides an easy, rapid and visual map operation. The system can fulfill a series of general GIS operation to resolve the space measure, buffer analysis and overlap analysis etc. And it also analyzes the water quality, rainfall, water resource and the biology situation of the wetland.
