New Product Development, The Selection Decision Support System Research And Development

Based on the study of the decision of type selection in new product development,this paper discusses the structure and functions of the new product type selection DSS,and explains the methods of implementing the DSS in details. In light of the present conditions and needs of Nanfang Motor Co.,Ltd.,the paper designs and develops the New Product Type Selection DSS in CIMS environment.The system can manage important data in the process of new product type selection;at the same time,it can support users to establish index system through AHP,which is used to evaluate the possibility of new product development,to specify the weights of all indexes,and then to create the synthetic evaluation model. As to the decision mission created by customers,the system can use the specified synthetic evaluation model and those collected data to evaluate several new product development projects in decision mission synthetically,then display the results with graphs and provide decision support for managers. During the decision-making of new product type selection,this system made some beneficial attempts to make the decisions more scientific and realize the combination of quantity analysis and quality analysis.Three synthetic evaluation models and an example of evaluating a practical decision mission by the above system are presented in this paper. The results of evaluation indicate:the New Product Type Selection DSS can greatly support the decision of new motor type selection .Finally,this paper introduces the system's development process and circumstances applied in Nanfang Motor Co.,Ltd..
