Embedded Database Management System is a new technology of data management rising in recent years. Based on mature database technology and special embedded device, It implements the data's storage, organization and management on mobile devices and embedded devices.Traditionally, database systems run on large-scale computer equipment including host computer systems and all kinds of servers. As the computer equipment go smaller and smaller, the database's miniaturization is urgently. Compared with large-scale computers, these small-scale computational units are characterized by small memory and minor hardware, even they have no hardware such as hand-held devices and intelligent household electronics. So it is not feasible to just transplant large-scale database to small-scale devices. We must specially designed database systems to fit for these devices' characters.Easy Database (EDB) implemented in this article is part of PDA project. PDA project is collaborative project of Coretek Jnc and EPSON .Inc in Shanghai. EDB is devoted to design a minor database management system for implementing personal information management (PIM) on PDA. PIM involve of business and private information such as business cards, memo, calendar, trip plan, and etc. EDB is such software who is'configured to create, utilize and service PIM. It is based on PDA OS and file system EPS of EPSON, and it manages and controls database application. EDB could service database and this function ensures database's safeness and integrity. It also could collate fragment that generates from frequency operation.As too many functions existed in EDB, we divided whole system by operation hierarchy, i.e., Interface Process Module, Database Engine Module, Data Access Module, Database Service Module and Data Store Module. This essay details in designing of data structure's definition, implementing of important functions, managing of EDB, and so on.
