Cmm Instance Of Applied Research With The Implementation Of The Proposed Discussion

Since China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, in order to compete in the globalizated economic market, the IT industry of China pays more attention to increasing their software development efficiency and to improving their software process management capability. A method for software process improvement, the Capability Maturity Model for Software, was developed by the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University and is beginning to attract the attention of the software industry of China. The SEI CMM has recently evolved from a term or concept into a very useful management tool for the software industry of China. But compared with other powerful software countries, the software industry of China started later and has less experience. This thesis focuses on how a US multinational company, Science Application International Corporation (SAIC), implements the SEI CMM and studies and analyzes its practice of SEI CMM. On the basis of the real SEI CMM case of SAIC, the author also provides at the end of this thesis a proposal for how to use SEI CMM in Chinese software organizations and as a reference for Chinese companies who have an interest in implementing the SEI CMM.
