A Study And Implementation Of Embedded Graphic User Interface(GUI) System

The embedded graphic user interface system is an important part of an embedded real-time operating system.The embedded GUI is now in it's early phase, There is many technical problems to be solved, so the study of the embedded graphic user interface system becomes an important part in the research and development of embedded systems.On the handled devices such as PDA, the user interface is very simple because of the poor hardware, we could hardly see the colorful GUI which was usually supported by PC. But recently we found that some handled computers, such as PocketPc, have supported complete GUI features. With the improvement of the hardware in the handled devices, we estimate that in the embedded system the need for mini GUI is more and more urgent.At the same time, it is easier for an embedded operating system with good graphical application programming environment in an embedded system developing environment to be accepted widely. And it is necessary to implement User Interface Designer to support graphical application based on embedded GUI. The use of UID can easily implement the design of user interface in graphic applications, also free the programmer from complicated graphic interface design and coding.This paper gives analysis and comparison to several embedded GUI systems,outlines the history of GUI and it's importance in the embedded system, analyses requirement in function and performance of embedded GUI,and describes the technology of object oriented message driven mechanism based on the above requirement analysis. Then this paper brings out a framework of GUI system(ReUI),describes the implement of it's kernel modules.This paper also discusses the features .design and implementation of Uid, describes the effect of the light graphic fuction library and gives the Integration method of UID and an Integrated Development Environment.The author of this paper did research work in the design of kernel modules and the framework of embedded GUI, participates in the design of UID and it's synchronization with the Integrated Development Environment, and then finished this paper.
