| With the digitalization of modern broadcast, DTV (Digital Television) industry is gaining more and more attention. Many countries according to their own conditions have setup transition solutions and industry objects. DTV set top box is an important product driving DTV industry during current ATV and DTV coexistence period.This thesis work is a part of research project titled " New Generation HDTV Set-top Box". The main task of this project is to develop a HDTV Set-top Box with personal video recorder (PVR) and conditional access (CA) functions, based on the "STi5514"and "STi7020" chips from company of STMicroelectronics. My work includes design and development of User Interface software module, which contains user interface software and remote control (RC) receiving software. Obviously, the User Interface is very important to end user, since the setup of the system can be achieved through it, therefore through it we can realize effective management of the different functional modules of the system, at last achieve interacting between the system and the end user.Among this two part of work, this thesis puts more emphasis on the design and implementation of the user interface. The key to user interface is the graphic library, which is composed of graphic figures and texts. Firstly, this thesis explains how to build a graphic library and the priciples of the figure and text display, then shows you in detail the procedure of design and implementation of the user interface, additionally, some problems I met during this work and their possible solutions were discussed in the thesis. Finally, the operation priciples and the implemetation of the RC receiving were discussed in general.Besides, this thesis makes a brief introduction to the system platform, ST20 software debugging environment and STMicroelectronics's STLite/OS20 real time operating system.Through debugging and test, User Interface software is proved to be applicable.
