Data Warehouse User Tools And Realization

Data Warehouse (DW) technique is one of the most popular computer research hotspots in 1990' s. It fulfills the increasing need for analytical processing and information retrieval. And the DW systems benefit for both enterprises and customs.The user tools in the DW systems, which are used for retrieving information in warehouse, is mainly analyzed and researched. They include On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), multidimensional analysis, report tools, chart tools and so on.A three-layer OLAP tool based on relationship is designed and implemented. The tool includes multidimensional star-schema modeling, analyzing and information releasing in various ways.The multidimensional report model, and corresponding data format transform method are proposed and implemented. And the data are showed in both tables and charts.The OLAP tool adopts the industry standard - XML (extensible Markup Language), which is used for metadata exchanging and components integration.This paper takes an actual chain drug stores DW system - Echain as an example to illustrate how to follow these principles and methods to implement DW systems and their user tools.
