Data - Driven Dss Development Methodology Applied Research

Data Warehouse(DW) and Online Analytical Processing(OLAP) open up a new channel for Decision Support System(DSS). Data-Driven DSS becomes the new way of DSS. The system centers the data, providing the powerful data analysis based on the DW which well manages the mess data. The new DSS makes the design idea changed from processing-driven to data-driven, and processing is for the data analysis. The development method is different from the methods of the past. Firstly, the paper introduces DW and OLAP on critical problems such as concept, architecture, management and so on. Secondly, data-driven DSS development method is presented after compared with traditional DSS development method. Thirdly, the implementation techniques of data-driven DSS are discussed fully. With the example of water and rainfall analysis of Flood Decision Support System , the paper gives how to build a multidimensional model and develop a data-driven DSS application.
