With the undertaking of medical reforms, and rapid development of medical information technology, especially the phenomenal progress of the hospital infomationization, building a digitized hospital has become an important task for the hospital. Kinds of business supporting system have improved gradually, and outpatient registration fee system, out-patient doctor workstation system, the designated flat rate system, the hospital management system, hospital doctor workstation system have been put into use, which have improved efficiency, eased doctor-patient relationship, and made good use of resources. However, how can we find out the useful information better and quickly show for the leaders to master so that they can control the operation of the hospital is a question, which needs to be solved immediately. Especially the core business of financial needs to be adjusted in time, and then make a scientific decision of direction and strategy.Using data warehouse, through extraction, cleansing, transformation and loading outpatient, hospital daily business data, by SQL Server Reporting Service, presents data from different angles, and the rich functions of scientific and direct analysis of reports can solve the problem of (data island), then provides better support for decision-making. Data warehouse application significantly improves the efficiency of the hospital financial income analysis and meets the needs of management, more importantly, reduces the effect on performance of OLTP, makes the operation more smoothly, and enhances patient satisfaction.The paper falls into five parts. The first part states the data warehouse application and research in the domestic and abroad; the second part introduces the key technology of data warehouse, including the data warehouse architecture, data model, ETL process, OLAP multidimensional analysis techniques and data mining techniques; the third part mainly analyses the existing hospital information management system, and makes the outpatient, inpatient revenue as the theme for the design dimensions and measures, and designs multidimensional model by (a star mode); the fourth part describes the design of ETL and the metadata management through SQLServer2008R2; the last part is the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical College Application.
