Olap Technology In Library Analysis

Book circulation data is the core to carry out library basic business.We can do simple statistics through report from management system, but librarians have realized book circulation data implied information more than that. It can provide the basis for library's business and daily management as well. But there is a problem that is how to organize the useful book circulation data and find the law. It not only can depend on the simple report or Human experience, but also rely on the computer technology to data analysis. In this paper, in order to use the Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) technology on circulation data analysis, we carried out the following work:(1) The source and the research background, purpose and significance, present situation at home and abroad, the main research method and main content, structure arrangement.(2) The principles and concepts including Data Warehouse technology and OLAP technology. The data warehouse architecture based on the SQL Server2008.(3) Carry out the data warehouse system needs analysis, design development steps.(4) Establish the source database, design data warehouse core database and use ETL to achieve the data import.(5) Build multidimensional data sets. Analyse it combined with the work of the staff demand and show the result.(6) Summarize application experience.This essay has analyzed the practicability of Data Warehouse technology and OLAP which would apply to the analysis of library data, on the basis of researching the correlation theory and technique about Data warehouse and OLAP. Finally it has realized OLAP analysis. With the analysis of related data we could summarize the law of library circulation and it could provide some helpful objective basis for the library book purchasing and daily management.
