With the rapid development of the IT industry and technology, a variety of videodisplay devices appeared in our live, study and work. For different monitors, there arelarge differences between the input video display format and the original format aswhat itself requires. And these differences are mainly reflected in scan mode, framerate, display resolution, etc., which would force us to solve the problem aboutcompatibility among them. Then, it provides a vast maket prospects for the videoformat conversion equipment. Nowadays, video format conversion is a hot researchtopic in the field of video image processing.This paper focuses on the practical application demand of an aviation institute,and a set of generic video interface converter based on the FPGA technology, isdesigned and developed. The main content: Camera captures the PAL signal, afterAD conversion, video format processing and encode, then, the signal is converted toLVDS with XGA standard, and the corresponding video image can be displayed onthe computer monitor. In the design process, consult a lot of related data, afterdigesting information, compare the pros and cons of different approaches, then a setof scheme about video image processing system based on FPGA is proposed, andvideo format conversions including de-interlacing, frame rate up and resolutionenlargement. The FPGA owes ultra-large-scale single chip capacity, parallelcomputing power and software and hardware programmable characteristic, thusimproving the integration, real-time and flexibility of the system. Verilog HDLhardware description language is used in the development environment of Quartus II9.0, to realize its function of each sub-module. The two functional modules,de-interlacing and frame rate up-conversion, are designed into the form of IPcores.Through experiment verification, the system meets the design requirement.Under a complex electromagnetic environment, the video image achieves real-timeand high-quality transmission.
