Intelligent Instruments Universal Scalable Platform For Research And Development

The system presented here, is based on thorough studying of the design method of the intelligent instrument, is called the universal system of the intelligent instruments. The functions of the three main intelligent instruments are integrated to the system, such as analogue data acquisition and transmission system, digital storage oscilloscope and wave generator. The Spartan3E XC3S500E FPGA produced by Xilinx Corporation is used as the core device. The high speed A/D device and the advanced DMA technology are used to realize high speed sampling, storing and transmitting the analogue signals. At the present time, in the theory, the sampling frequency of the high speed A/D device matched with the advanced DMA technology is higher than 100MHz. So quick capturing, storing and slowly display/regenerating the analogue signal is realized. And once changing process and quick changing signal can be observed. The wave generator function is integrated to the system, too. The advanced DDFS technology is used to generate the adjustable stepping sine wave, triangle wave, saw tooth wave and other random wave combination in the wide range of the frequencies. With the technology, the wave generated by the system has the qualities of the wide range frequency, small step value, high precision of amplitude and frequency, continuous changing signal phase and good spectrum. As the same time, the system design has the opening and universal qualities. By modifying and adding the other function modules and adjusting module functions combinations, it can be used to quickly deploy and form the other kinds of industry instruments which are satisfied to special industry application. So it has the high application value in the industry production.
