The system of data acquisition and wave generator is an important method to acquire and transmit the information and a neccessory part in measure-control technology. It has the functions of data acquiration, data storage, data procession and control etc. It is widely used in the fields of Virtual Instruments (VI) and signal process.With the development of computer, the resource of hardware and software of the computer is more and more abundant. Using the computer to do electronic testing work can play a positive part in making full use of the computer, cut developing period of electronic testing instruments, reducing cost, making operation easier etc. Therefore, the idea of designing VI is widely applied in designing and developing of testing instruments.The scheme with USB is an ideal mean to realize VI system, because it is of PNP(plug and play), bus power supply, expandability, high speed, high accuracy and easy to use, etc. so it is widely used in instruments. As far as now, almost computers are compatible with USB.This thesis, adopting the idea of VI based on USB2.0, designed and realized a high speed acquirer with four channels and high precision wave generator with two channels. The resolution of this data acquirer is 12 bits, and the highest speed of transferation can reach to 6MHz. The highest speed of data transmission between instrument and computer can reach to 10MB/s, the range of input voltage is from -5 to 5V, the error range of measurement is within 0.2% and the conversion precision of wave generator is 12 bits. It can output wave with single channel or two channels, the error rate is within 0.3%.This paper discuss the process of designing and realizing data aquisition and wave generator primarily in the aspect of hardware and software, and the software includes the design of firmware program, Dynamic Link Library (DLL), application program, firmware-download driver development and encode of the inf file, moreover, the result is analyzed and processed.
