Virtual instruments is a kind of instruments of functional meaning, it is composed of personal computer hardware and applied software .The basic principle is the hardware aquisit singles, then using the software to realize data displaying and measurment. At first, the author gives out the trend and actuality of the data acquisition that use the USB interface and the merits and defects of the conventional oscilloscope. After comparing several conventional data transfer methods and new patterns generated in recent years, the advantages and disadvantages of USB interface used in data transfer and virtual instruments measurement system. In succession, USB transport protocols and USB fixture frame-construct are compactly and stated by the numbers. And the realization of the high speed data acquisition is discussed in the paper, through particularly introducing the all data acquisition system. Then the programming and transferring USB device driver program are explained by discussing the Windows drive program model, and singly making out some designs and functions of the virtual oscilloscope panel.
