With the development of civil aviation industry and the increase of the air traffic flow, to ensure flight safety, over ninety MSSR have been used in airports in China for flight safety purpose. With the increase of MSSR working time, more testing and diagnosing demands are needed. This article constructs SSR and module fault diagnosing system based on VXI bus, adopted with latest fault testing and diagnosing technology and combined with expert knowledge. The article mainly includes:1. Testable analysis and validation of SSR parameters. From the perspective of maintenance demands, testing experimentation has been executed in transmitter, receiver, RF channel, antenna column, angle signal and module unties by instruments based on GPIB bus. Testing contents and testing methods have been repeatedly validated. Testing value of antenna column has been provided.2. SSR and module fault diagnosing system based on VXI bus designs and hardware constructs. In view of the design demand, fault diagnosing system including the automatic test functional unit and intelligent diagnosis functional unit was proposed. Hardware constructs including analyzed choices of mainframe, the slot 0 controller, power supply, analog excitation and response source, digital excitation and response source. General interface design and Alenia SSR general interface design in details are also presented.3. Software design. Designing method, structure, controlling methods were studied. Fault trees were established and analyzed based on expertise knowledge and intelligentized test of fault tree, including transmitter, receiver, angle signal, MIX and APACOR module unties. Module fault diagnosing of MIX and APACOR has been realized. Expert knowledge database of SSR was established and analyzed.We have to try best to perfect diagnosing system, keep adopting our knowledge into the system to build the most applicable MSSR radar fault diagnosing system.
