Remote Fault Diagnosis (RFD) is a hot research point nowadays in fault diagnosis area. As the electronic industry developing fast, the devices and systems tend to be more complex, resulting much more cost on test and diagnosis. This increasing cost becomes the restriction of the further development of electronic industry. Experts showed their interest on RFD when the global network was still in slow building period in the last century.RFD technology was aimed to shrink the diagnosing cost and improve the performance of fault diagnosis, through distributing the details of the diagnosing system in different places, and accomplishing fault diagnosis through cooperation of these sub-systems, making use of the modern highly developed network and communicating technologies.Based on the analysis of the current research on RFD technology, this paper provides the total architecture of"the Remote Fault Diagnosis System", considering the program"the Remote Distributing Fault Diagnosis System". Attention is mainly paid on the two important processes, auto test and fault diagnosis. IVI standard and PXI driven programs are used to build the test software environment. Multiple diagnosing strategies are taken to solve the usual fault, uncertainty problem and multi-fault diagnosing problem. The practice proves this strategy satisfies the requirement of system building and shows its effectiveness in fault diagnosis of complex electronic systems.
