In traditional Chinese grammar ,"you dian"is regarded as a degree adverb, from which we hold a different opinion. Our opinion is that"you dian"should be analysed as a phrase consisting of the verb"you"and the indefinite measure word"dian".This paper is divided into six parts. The first part explains the reasons for us to pay attention to this problem. The second part analyses the grammatical construction of"you dian". The third part shows the contradiction in Chinese sentence pattern analysis if we regard"you dian"as an adverb. The fourth part mainly points out the particularity of the verb"you"and summarizes both the traditional and the latest ideas on"you"sentence. The fifth part tries to sum up the causes for Chinese linguists to mistake"you dian"as a degree adverb. The sixth part , the ending part of this paper, summarizes our opinion in brief.
