ABSTRACTAbout the relationship between the study of Confucian classics and politics in HanDynasties, Yang Xiang-kui and Tang Zhijun expounded it in their respective the stwtOf Confucian classics andpolilics in ffeslern Han Dynasty. In recent years, Jing Wen,Zhang Tao etc. Have probed into it in their theses. But works and theses which speciallyand systematical1y the re1ationship bet''een lhe study of the book of songs and politics inHan Dynasties are yet scarce. So the thesis just aim at the problem.What with the probIem is very compIicated, and the Iength is Iimited, the thesis onlyexpound the evolution of their relationship and the politicaI lhought contained in thestudy of lhe book OfsoIng.First, the evoIution of the relaIionsl1ip bet\veen the study of Ihe book Of songs andpolilics in Han Dynasties. The relationship experienced a tortuous course; concretelyspeaking, some characters are as foIlows. (a)As soon as Western Han Dynasty wasfounded, the sttldy of Ihe book of st)I7Arv started to march into poIitics. but was held backby lhe leading thought of Huang-Lao \vl1icl1 is in thvor of rclicving people of burden anddeveloping economic. During ll1e I)eri()ds of CI11perors Wen and Jing, the study of Ihebook (Jj'sonAts started lo enter tl1e rtJlcrs sigl1t. and sen'ed as tl1e radicaI pioneer of theCon1licianist to chal1enge 1he 1l1ougl1t of Huang-Lao. During 1he periods of emperors Wu,Zllao and Xuan, because the slo\" of the theoretically retbnning of itseIf and the scholars'fault in tactic, the study of Ihe hook o/'soItqs couIdn't keep its leadership in the study ofConfucian classics. and had to }ieId 1o the study of SPring und au!umn. During theperiods of cmperors Yuan. Chen. Ai and Ping. the study of Ihc book of songs entered thegolden age of being the 1eading 1hougl1t of adrninistering the country. But when it cameto Eastern Han Dynasty. it gave ''ay 1o the study of the Canon of Filial Piely. (b)As tothe four schools of Ihe book ofsolIgs, i.e. Lu, Qi, Han and Mao, Lu was fol1owed firstwitll interest by tI1e ruIers. During tI1e periods of emperors Wen and Jing ran neck andneck. but Lu l1ad a 1ittle superioril}, DuriT1g 1l1c periods of e111perors Xuan and Yuan, Qitake the leading position, by far sL1rpassing Lu. t"hich presented the period of full boomof the study of the book of songs in Han Dynasties. In the whole Westem Han Dynasty,the int1uence of Han was very 1i1tle; Mao aln1ost remained obscure, only appearing inthe late. Dut in Eastern Han D}nast}. N1ao caI11e t;rst on tl1e list, Han achieved lit'tlelsuccess. while Qi and Lu declined. (c)The re1ationship of the study of Ihe book Of sOngwith poIitics depended on the extent it catered fOr the need of politics, which couId beverified by the drafting apart or inlimacy with each other and the change of the relallveposition of the fOur schools of Ihe book Of songs. (d)As first the scholars couldnt deeplyparticipate in politics because they dreaming of refOrming politics with the stUdy of Ihebook of songs. So they conversely made it practical, further theoIogical. then they coulddeeply, but they a1so deviated from the truth of it step by step.
