Neurodermatitis characterized by serious pruritus and lichenification is a common chronic skin disease. Anxiety is a causative factor and exacerbating factor of neurodermatitis. It is significant to recognize and treat the anxiety neurosis of ND patients in time. Because of the specific feature of neurodermatitis, it may have some rules to follow in the TCM syndromes of ND. Quantizing the relationship between anxiety and TCM syndromes can guide the therapy of ND.The thesis contains literature review and clinical study. The literature review has two pieces. The first one is "TCM study progress of neurodermatitis". It mainly reviews the origin of disease names, etiology and pathogenesis, clinical manifestation and therapy methods. The Second one is "General study in mental state of ND patients". It introduces the mechanism about how mental factors cause and exacerbate neurodermatitis. It also includes clinical manifestation of neuropsychic disturbance, relationship between anxiety and neurodermatitis, treatment of anxiety neurosis. Objective:To explore relative factors of ND patients'anxiety and the relationship between anxiety and TCM syndromes.Method:1. Case selection:Choose 91 patients diagnosed as neurodermatitis from 2009/10 to 2010/1 in DongFang hospital. Every chosen patient must meet the neurodermatitis diagnosis standards, TCM syndrome diagnosis standards and the selection criteria.2. Research method:Collect the clinical data through questionnaire and talking, group the patients by TCM syndrome patterns, and evaluate the anxious state by using Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). Put all the data into computer and deal with data by SPSS17.0 statistical software. Results:Incidence rate of anxiety in ND patients is 64.8%. The cause of anxiety is apparently relative to age, marriage status and medical burden. In TCM syndrome patterns, live-fire from stagnation syndrome occupies the most proportion. The most common accompanied symptoms in order are insomnia and dream-disturbed sleep, restlessness and irritability, dry throat, dark yellow urine, bitter taste, forgetfulness. Anxiety is apparently relative to the degrees of pruritus and disease course. Incidence rate of anxiety in TCM syndromes from high to low is:live-fire from stagnation syndrome (84.09%)>wind and dryness due to blood deficiency syndrome (68.00%)>wind and dampness stagnation syndrome (22.73%). HAMA values in TCM syndromes from high to low is:live-fire from stagnation syndrome (15.91)>wind and dryness due to blood deficiency syndrome (13.00) >wind and dampness stagnation syndrome(10.37). Live-fire from stagnation syndrome has the highest values in the HAMA factors include nervousness factor, fear factor, insomnia factor, depression factor, gastrointestinal symptom factor and behavior in interview factor, while wind and dryness due to blood deficiency syndrome has the highest value in muscular system symptom factor and sensory system symptom factor. Conclusion:ND patients always accompany anxiety neurosis. Age, marriage status and medical burden are causative factors of anxiety. With exacerbating of pruritus and increasing of disease course, incidence rate of anxiety rises up gradually. The points in TCM syndrome are liver fire and blood deficiency. The main syndrome type is live-fire from stagnation syndrome. Live-fire from stagnation syndrome has the closest relationship with anxiety, as it not only has the highest incidence rate of anxiety but also has the most serious degree. Wind and dryness due to blood deficiency syndrome is next to it.
