| This paper systematically analyses the pathogenesis for the heavy sensation in body (HSB), with three direct pathogenesis as its clue, works from Zhang Zhongjing as its key literature. 'Huangdi Neijing', and works from great physicians in Jing and Yuan dynasties as well as from physicians of Wenbing School were also enrolled in study. As the main result of the study, a relatively intact and detailed pathogeneses system for HSB was established. This system is composed of three sub-systems, which are respectively named with three direct pathogeneses. They are 'Qi-stagnation in Yangming meridians' sub-system, 'Qingyang deficiency' sub-system, and 'fluid and dampness' sub-system. In discussions about pathogeneses for HSB by generations of physicians, only 'fluid and dampness' belongs to direct pathogeneses, other versions all belong to indirect pathogeneses, thus are subordinated in these three sub-systems. The clinical significances of this pathogeneses system for HSB are: 1.To grasp all the complex with the simple, 2.To take all the possibilities into consideration, 3.To avoid wrong conclusions drawn. The laws of varying pathogeneses for HSB under different degrees, focuses and accompanied with different symptoms further enriched this system. As another result of this study, a theory of three characters of direct pathogeneses was discovered and utilized. This theory holds that according to symptoms and indirect pathogeneses, direct pathogeneses has three characters: the direct character, the conclusive character and the determinate character. The universality of this theory will accomplish its role as basis of pathogeneses systems for all symptoms. |
