Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of treatment of Huang BaiYe (HBY) on recurrent genital herpes(GH) and probe into its mechanism. Methods: The study is divided into two parts. in the first part, to evaluate the clinical effect of HBY. the 62 patients were divided randomly into therapy group and control group for the observation and comparison of lately clinical therapy, 57 case of patients (30 case in therapy group and 27 case in control group) for the observation and comparison of antirecurrent clinical therapy. In the second part, the experiment to investigate the inhibitory activity of HBY on herpes virus II (HSV- II) I-ISV-IL in vitro. Result: HBY and oral famciclovir have same prophylactic effects (P>0.05 ) for the lately clinical therapy. but the curative effect of HBY on the treatment of recurrent genital herpes seems much better than that of famciclovir (P
