Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of HuangQiFuZheng(HQFZ) decoction in treatment of recurrent genital herpes (RGH) and the influence on IL-4,IL-10,IL-12,IL-18 in the peripheral blood of patients. To discuss the mechanism of HQFZ decoction in treating RGH and the regulation in the immune function of patients. Methods: 84 patients with RGH were randomly divided into the remedial group(with HQFZ), comparel groupl(with Aciclovir) and control group2(with Aciclovir and IFN-a-2b) .The period of treatment is 4 weeks .To observe the relapse rate after 6 months and the abnormal reaction.Double-sandwich ELISA was used to detect the levels of IL-4,L-10,IL-12 and IL-18 of all patients before and after treatment, and 20 healthy volunteers as control group. Results:The relapse rate of the treatment group (32.3%) is lower than control groupl (72%) and equal to control group2(21.4%).Before treatment the serum levels of IL-4,IL-10 were significantly higher and the serum levels of IL-12,IL-18 were lower in the patients with RGH than that of the healthy controls(p<0.01) . After treatment the serum levels of IL-4,IL-10 were decreased and the serum levels of IL-12,IL-18 were increased markedly (P<0.01).Conclusions: The HQFZ decoction can reduce the relapse rate of RGH and it may enhance the immunity of the patients.
