Dmaic Research On The Application Of Electronic Scale In The Production Process Improvement

Since the implementation in Motorola in 1987, the six sigma management has been practiced and carried forward in many worldwide famous companies, such as Allied Signal,GE and 3M. The excellent performance brought by it has made many companies learn and try to practice it.Firstly, This paper has reviewed and discussed the related literature and the theory about six sigma, in order to get a good knowledge of the six sigma idea and its steps for improvement, according to the steps for improvement of six sigma—DMAIC, this report puts the theory into effect through the case of K company. In the Defining phase, Pareto chart is used to define customers' requirements and dominating problems; In the measuring phase, SIPOC is applied to determine the critical quality characteristics, and Gage R&R is applied to make sure that the measurement system is effective; In analyzing phase, we applied process capability analysis and cause-effect chart to find out the possible factors which influence the quality characteristics. In improving phase, DOE is applied to determine the critical controllable factors, as well as the best parameter composing; in controlling phase, we apply SOP and SPC to supervise the improving process of production, to remain the good production situation.Through applying DMAIC method, combined with suitable tools, the process of production in K company has made an obvious improvement, which help the company saved nearly RMB $1.0 million's economic margin , while the investment for it is only about RMB $160,000.- (including the cost for several key parts modification and human resources). A complete operating mode for improvement is established in this report, which will provide references for other improving projects, as well as for other middle and small companies to practice six sigma management.
