The concept of Lean Manufacturing originates from TOYOTA in 1950's to 1960's. Lean manufacturing is to reduce cost, by eliminating potential waste in organization through continuous improvements. It is considered as another revolutionary way of manufacturing, after Taylor's Management and Ford's Mass Production, and a result when Industrial Engineering is developing. In May of 2005, a conference was held in Chicago on how to combine Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodology. It is a declaration of the effectiveness and importance of their integration. In recent years, more and more enterprises choose Lean Six Sigma Methodology, with the development of the theory. As an advanced management theory, it was originally implemented in some foreign-funded enterprises, especially in automobile industry. Now it spreads in various industries as a principle philosophy of management.Kaizen, which means continuous improvement, is a method to improve with less cost, including every person in management and operations. Although the improvement is realized step by step, it will bring dramatic results as time goes on. What the improvement needs, is called lean tools, including DMAIC,visual management, continuous improvement process, mistake proofing, standard operation and quick changeover, etc. Therefor, this thesis mainly focuses on application of the tool named DMAIC in the company's continuous improvement activities.The thesis is to talk about application and achievement of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing and its tools, and in-depth discussion and analysis is also included, in order to give some useful advice for successful implementation of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing in local manufacturing industry. It is of great importance to most of the local enterprises.Firstly, the thesis introduced the structure of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing theory based on pioneers'result. After that, the theoretical background is also introduced. Finally, the application of the continuous improvement tools listed above in the company is introduced. The application of each tool is for improvement of the production, and the result, practically and financially, is proved. It drives employees to follow the production record, enhance employee's willingness of getting involved in the production. As the projects move forward, less usage of spare part, shorter cycle time, and higher yield will appear in financial data in different periods. So it is very important for an organization to implement lean six sigma tools successfully.Lean Six Sigma gives constructual guidance to enterprises. So it is very helpful for this thesis to present the theory of Lean Six Sigma, and to summarize the application of the methodology among the projects.
