| In these few years, small and medium enterprises (SME) have made rapid progress and have become the important force of our country. But with the globalization and the development of information technology , the market competition have become more and more intense, thus the SME are facing more rigorous challenge. It is difficult for traditional methods to adapt to global competition and rigorous market change. Business process reengineering (BPR) is a type of modern management technique, which could help enterprise to increase its competitiveness, and its ability to survive and development. It was modern management thought and method proposed in 90's last century. Its core concept is to continuously reconsider and revise the business of the enterprise, and then improve the element dramatically, which reflects the enterprises capability as a whole, including cost, time, quality, service, speed and environment etc.This paper aim to discuss the principle, method, content, and operating process of SME's BPR, and expect to be a guidance for SME to implement BPR, improve their management level and adaptive ability so as to survive in today's uncertain and dynamic competitive environment. In the research, qualitative analysis and systemic analysis are mainly used in this paper, so the research method of this paper is systematical research and inducing on the base of referring much relative material.The whole text divided six chapters to study the BPR of SME in our country. Chapter 1 is the introduction. This chapter mainly expatiated on the backgrounds and practical significances of the study, study methods, purpose, thinking road of the text, status quo of BPR's study separately. Chapter 2, the papers carried on the detailed elaboration to the BPR theory, introduced the BPR historical background, meaning and core principle, and then expatiated upon recognition degree on BPR both at home and abroad. And furthermore, particularly explained development trend and research content of BPR, reviewed the BPR theory application effect.
