With the high speed development of society economy, the auto demand of China has come into a sustained growth period of time. While a series of problems has aroused people's interest day by day, such as vehicle's dispatching management, traffic safety, anti-theft alarm, etc. Based on embedded systems technology, using satellite position technology and wireless communication technologies, vehicle monitoring system can resolve these problems effectively. It has important practical significance to current transport and vehicle safety studying vehicle monitoring system. Vehicle monitoring system is mainly composed of the monitoring center and mobile terminals, and helps of the public communication networks to realize data communication between the two parts.In view of current status of vehicle monitoring system, and related technology research on mobile terminal, this paper presented a multi-purpose embedded mobile terminal solution, which fused global positioning system, General Packet Radio Service, ARM embedded system and MEMS sensor technology in together. Mobile terminal take ARM7 processor S3C44B0X as control core, using GPS module and MEMS sensors obtained the orientation and vehicle condition information which monitoring center needed. Though data processing, using GPRS module realized the monitoring to vehicles by the way of Socket. Compared with traditional vehicle monitoring system, this solution selected GPRS network transmission technology, which has many advantages to using GSM short messages type. It also increased the function of precision improvement for GPS orientation information and real-time warning to seriousvehicle hit and tumbling accidents.This paper focused on expounding the scheme argumentation of mobile terminal, the design of hardware circuit, the transplant work of operating system, as well as the realization of wireless network communication. At the same time, paper introduced the establishing of experiment system using ARMSYS44B0-C development board and self-made user circuit board in detail. Utilizing experiment system, the mainly functional modules have been debugged.
