In recent years, as our country automobile industry develops unceasingly, people propose the intense demand to automobile's intellectualization and humanization. The embedded system has provided the outstanding solution for the automobile electronics industry because of its strong functions,high reliability.small size and low power consumption.Use of embedded technology,computer technology and wirelless communication technology to develop high-performance vehicle monitoring system,it will not only help the management of vehicle,but also can improve the efficiency of vehicles,resulting in significant economic benefits.This article to vehicle monitoring terminal's design has conducted the research based on embedded system,on which the technology involved is analyzed and discussed. The GPS location data, USB camera collected image data and warning data after ARM processor processing,are transfered to the montioring center by the terminal,using the GPRS wireless networks,to facilitate the administrative personnels to make related processing.The paper first elaborates the topic of domestic and foreign research status and its purpose and significance.Secondly,it describes the overall design of the system and introduces the ues of two key technologies to the GPS and GPRS related knowledge.Then, after the analysis and design of the vehicle monitoring terminal's functional requirements,it designs and realizes the vehicle monitoring terminal from the hardware and the software two aspects. In the hardware aspect, by the high performance ARM9 controller, it has designed each module interface circuit separately.In the software aspect, it takes the U-Boot as the system bootloader,Linux as the embedded operating system,and develops the application program with C language,including the GPS program,the GPRS program and the USB camera capture program. And a simple monitoring center software written with Qt are compiled to carry on the test to the system.Finally,the article summarizes the work done,analyzes the inadequacies of the system and make the forecast to the system's application prospect.
