LXI bus absorbs plenty of merit of numerous industry standards that are existing such as Ethernet standard,Internet tools,LAN protocol,PTP protocol,IEC specification,IVI driver and so on,which possess easibility of GPIB,high performance and small dimension of VXI/PXI,and high throughput efficiency of LAN.Owing to its excellence,LXI will becomes a new ideal bus platform of building automatic test system(ATS) . LXI gets support of many famous instrument manufacturers,although it has been issued for only 3 years.At present,there are only some well-known instrument companies that has released LXI devices in the world.However,the research on LXI is still in its infancy at domestic.Arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) is one of basic modules building ATS.Therefore developing AWG based on LXI bus has significance and bright market prospect.The project was to develop an arbitrary waveform generator based on LXI with dual channels.On the basis of the research on LXI specification,The combination of ARM and FPGA was proposed as a solution to the hardware platform of the module.Utilizing FPGA implemented waveform generating , trigger and synchronization.The DDS core that is in favor of waveform generating was designed in FPGA , and the function of trigger and synchronization was implemented by IEEE1588 IP core from MorethanIP Inc..LXI interface hardware was composed of ARM9 processor AT91RM9200 and PHY DM9161AE,then embedded Linux system was built by porting of u-boot and linux kernel.Web server and CGI web page were implemented by porting of Boa.IVI driver was designed on the basis of VISA resource.VXI-11 LAN discovery protocol was implemented by software.Signal conditioning circuit that is vital to guaranteeing the quality of waveform was designed detailedly.The LXI module in 2U size,with 100MS/s sampling rate,14-bit resolution and storage depth of 128K,in favor of plural trigger mode,Auto-IP and manual LAN configuration and 10/100M network,conformant with class B,has reached all kinds of technical requirement through testing and verifying,and applied to ATS successfully.
