The ARM7 control and communication module based on VME-bus is designed to meet the need of new avionics system development. The module is the control center, process center and communication center in a sub-system of avionics. The ARM7 core process speed can reach to 100MIPS, and the inside bus applied VME64 can provide 4.2Gbps data transmission bandwidth. This module integrated multi-volume memories and various peripherals can manage up to 100 ARINC429 communication channels by using FPGA. This module makes some innovation which focus on fields such as processor structure, inside bus, communication interface. The ARM7 embedded system, VME bus and FPGA have been widely used in the electronics design, and our avionics engineering system will take many advantages of these advanced technologies.The article thoroughly describes the concept of design, realization method and implementation of the whole module. First of all, it introduces the source of the work, the content and purpose of the research. It also simply illustrates the system, and the work to be achieved by the paper. Furthermore, it introduces the background of the technology used and describes in detail about the design planning of the system including hardware and software, in addition, the crucial technique, the design method of some difficult technique. And then it also describes the implementation of the design and the modification procedure, which include the function testing of the different hardware parts, development of the software drivers, optimization and completion of design, and finally the partial result of simulation. Design of Multi-channel ARINC429 Communication Chip based on FPGA is specially discussed in a separate chapter for its typical application. In the end of the paper, it concludes the main study works and result of this project and makes an expectation about the application of this design in the future.
