| RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology, is a kind of recognition technology through radio waves, induction or microwave for non-contact two-way data communication, to identify the information and interact data. In the decades RFID technology has developed greatly, from the initial military field to the civil logistics area, and especially large commercial application indicates the arrival of RFID technology development. Major manufacturers of products emerge in endlessly. RFID tag itself has many outstanding advantages, with integrated circuit design and raising the level of production technology progress, the cost of RFID tags will decrease, and it will be more and more widely used. This paper is mainly based on SMIC 0.18μm process of digital circuit RFID tag by semi-custom design approach. At first, the paper briefly introduces the basic concepts of RFID technology and development status, and the communication protocol, according to the protocol defining the basic framework of digital circuit module partition, and explains the whole circuit structure and working process, and according to the characteristics of passive tags especially emphasizes the design method of low power consumption in the circuit. We discuss digital all physical design process of digital circuit RFID tag, mainly includes: data preparation and load, floorplan, power planning, place, the clock tree synthesize, route, all kinds of optimization strategy and verification (static timing analysis, physical simulation validation) and the post-layout simulation, using EDA tools such as Synopsys company's Astro (physical design), Star - RCXT (parasitic parameters extraction), Prime Time (static timing analysis), VCS (post-layout simulation) and Calibre (DRC and LVS verification) from Mentor Graphic. After all the ASIC design processes of timing or physical layout violations are eliminated by iterative design, sign-off to Foundry. After data submitted to the foundry, SMIC provides the ultimate flow chip, using appropriate reader and antenna to test, the circuit we designed can work normally, with the tag can be read. The design of the RFID tag is relatively successful on the whole, realizing the expectation of circuit performance. |
