Recently, with increasing requirement of mobility and scalability of wireless networks, Mesh network becomes more and more popular. However, all methods of communication are based on wireless media, security protocols have become a hot topic. In the realm of Mesh network security protocols, security and network performance are equally important. However, majority scholars focus on the research of security, leading few studies on their network performance. In addition, the enormous complexity and poor efficiency of modeling security protocols, as far as we know, no general method and technology has been presented, and current simulation system available cannot well support its research. In this view, we first propose a novel Mesh network simulation architecture, which could help platform developers construct their own version platform or based on simulator; secondly we specify the interface and present an extension method for evaluating security protocols directing protocol designers embed their security protocol modules into the platform; thirdly, we implement the platform in the simulator OPNET; finally we will validate the universality of the methodology we proposed as well as the feasibility and the correctness of the platform, meanwhile we will evaluating a security protocol Wireless Mesh Secure Protocol (WMSP) designed by our group as an application case of the platform. After analysis, simulation results demonstrate that the WMSP has a favorable network performance.
