The present paper looks into the issue of Wireless Transmission Layer Safety Protocol—WTLS Protocol and illustrates its application in WAP and the services provided by it, such as encryption, authentication and data integrality. This paper also sets out,on the basis of a research into WTLS Protocol's layered structure and the functions and work flows of its sub-protocols,a scheme for implementing said protocol independently in a mobile Ad Hoc environment. In view of certain characteristics of mobile Ad Hoc environment like dynamic topology, peer communication,self-organizing and limited safety and therefore their restriction on communication safety, this paper puts an emphasis on Transmission Layer Safety Control offered by WTLS Protocol and further puts forward some possible improvements to said protocol, which include improvement to the way of linking management in the context of P2P and also improvement to handshaking. Moreover, the present paper explains in terms of confidentiality, integrity, usability and incontestability the Safety Control that can be offered by implementing said protocol.Considering the requirement for performance analysis of WTLS Protocol, the present paper uses OPNET Simulation Platform to set forth the method for modeling and analyzing protocol performance on said platform, according to which models are made based on network scene, node and progress, respectively.Meanwhile, this paper shows the prototype codes for critical encryption and state shifting during implementing process. The last section shows the realization of the simulation environment built on this platform and conducts performance analysis on a simplified model for only two nodes and a complete model for multiple nodes.
