With the rapid development of China's automobile industry and a series of positive policies to promote the market launched by government in recent years, in 2009, the state has broken the 10 million sales mark for the first time, becoming a car sales superpower. Automotive logistics industry also will be actively developed. In this context, the "more economical, safer, greener" car transport modes-Ro-Ro transport achieved a great development, and coastal major ports have also started on Ro-Ro terminal construction in full swing.This paper discusses the coastal Ro-Ro berth layout design principles and ways, and emphasizes on the Tianjin global Ro-Ro terminal berth layout. The article mainly reviews the historical development of Ro-Ro, introduces the current Ro-Ro development situation, analyses the characteristics of Ro-Ro vessels and the impact to Ro-Ro terminal layout, detailedly expatiates on several coastal Ro-Ro terminal berth layouts, i.e. quarter ramp mode, middle ramp mode, straight ramp mode etc., focusing on analysis of the impact of Ro-Ro berths layout elementsThen through a comparative study of the berth layout features of Dalian, Guangzhou, Shanghai and several foreign Ro-Ro terminals such as Bremerhaven(Germany), Rotterdam(Netherland), Zeebrugge(Belgium), the article analyzes the impact of layout elements of Ro-Ro berths. Finally, combining author's actual work in Tianjin Global Ro-Ro terminal, the paper makes its berth layout simulation analysis of Ro-Ro terminal construction for our future reference. |
