As the research field of GIS expand to 3D GIS, GIS has come through huge development in 3D data structure and digital city modeling, especially the combination of computer visualization technology, Virtual Reality and 3D GIS, the expressive style of geographical information is also extends from 2D to 3D, and VRGIS is formed. At the same time, as the rapid development of network, the researching of Web-VRGIS system faced to network try to realize the expression, dispose, publish and service of 3D space data, the appearance of Geographic Virtual Reality Modeling Language (GeoVRML) provides an available method to resolve 3D visualization on Web.This paper uses VRGIS in the item of the historic site protection, it introduced the acquirement of ancient data, the disposal of data and 3D visualization in detail, it tries to provide the intuitionistic, visual viewpoint and reference for archaeologist and browser through dummy exhibition of 3D Modeling.The contributions in this paper are shown as follows:(1)3D laser scanner technology, Remote Sensing technology and Geographic Virtual Modeling Language (GeoVRML) are used to reconstruct Virtual 3D historic site scene;(2)MultiGen Creator software and GeoLOD technology are used to realize structuring and managing 3D data, predigesting modeling;(3)The Web-VRGIS system for publishing ancient information are realized in design which offer the exhibition and interactive service for 2D information and 3D visualization, and some practical value are acquired.
